1. Classroom Language (Student's Edition)
These are phrases students can use to participate effectively in class.

2. Complimenting (Giving and Receiving Praise)
Compliments make people feel happy and encouraged.
A. Giving a Compliment:
On appearance/possessions:
"I like your [bag/hat/shirt]! It's really nice."
"You look great today!"
On someone's work/skills:
"Good job!" / "Well done!"
"That's an excellent drawing!"
"You are a fantastic cook!"
"You did a great job on the presentation."
On an idea:
"That's a great idea!"
B. Responding to a Compliment:
It is polite to accept a compliment simply. Never argue with someone who gives you a compliment!
"Thank you." (The most common and safe response)
"Thank you very much."
"That's very kind of you."
"Thanks, I appreciate it."
If you want to return the compliment: "Thank you! Yours is nice too!"
3. Expressions of Certainty and Uncertainty
These phrases show how sure or unsure you are about something.
Certainty (Yakin) | Uncertainty (Tidak Yakin) |

I'm certain. (Saya pasti) | I doubt it. (Saya ragu) |

I know. (Saya tahu) | I don't know. (Saya tidak tahu) |
There's no doubt about it. (Tidak ada keraguan) | I'm not certain. (Saya tidak pasti) |
Examples in a dialogue:
A: "Will it rain tomorrow?"
B (Certain): "I'm sure it will. The sky is very dark."
B (Uncertain): "I'm not sure. Maybe it will, maybe it won't."
4. Expressions of Likes and Dislikes
These are ways to say what you enjoy and what you don't.
A. Expressing LIKES (from strong to weak):
I love... (Saya sangat suka/mencintai) -> "I love chocolate ice cream."
I really like... (Saya sangat suka) -> "I really like playing football."
I like... (Saya suka) -> "I like watching movies."
I enjoy... (Saya menikmati) -> "I enjoy reading books."
I'm fond of... (Saya menyukai) -> "I'm fond of classical music."
B. Expressing DISLIKES (from polite to strong):
I don't like... (Saya tidak suka) -> "I don't like waking up early."
I dislike... (Saya tidak menyukai) -> "I dislike rude people."
I can't stand... (Saya tidak tahan) -> "I can't stand the hot weather."
I hate... (Saya benci) -> "I hate doing homework."
I detest... (Saya sangat benci) -> "I detest violence."
C. Neutral / No Strong Opinion:
I don't mind... (Saya tidak keberatan) -> "I don't mind cooking."
It's okay. / It's not bad. (Lumayan) -> "The movie was okay."
Grammar Note: After these expressions, you can use:
A noun: "I like cats."
A verb with -ing: "I dislike running."
